Job summary

Teaching Personnel Ltd. is seeking a dedicated Family Support Worker to work full-time across primary schools in Blackburn. You will collaborate with pupils, families and school staff to remove barriers to learning and promote wellbeing.

The role involves safeguarding, home visits, and liaising with external agencies. A full UK driving licence is desirable and ongoing training is provided.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in Family Support, Learning Mentor, Teaching Assistant, Youth Worker or similar roles.
• Experience with children and families in education, social care or community settings.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Good understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
• Ability to stay calm, professional and empathetic in challenging situations.
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle desirable.

Responsibilities

• Build positive relationships with pupils and families.
• Provide practical and emotional support to parents and carers.
• Support children with social, emotional and behavioural needs.
• Work with school staff to improve attendance, engagement and wellbeing.
• Liaise with external agencies and professionals as appropriate.
• Carry out home visits and support family intervention plans when required.
• Safeguard and promote the welfare of all children.
