Job summary

St Anthony's Catholic Primary School, Preston, is seeking a Family and Pupil Support Worker to deliver targeted family support and one-to-one guidance for emotional wellbeing and attendance. Qualifications

• Professional/academic Level 3 qualification or equivalent or substantial experience in a relevant technical, specialised or operational field.

Responsibilities

• Support the Families First Assessment process and coordinate Team Around the Family (TAF) meetings.

• Co-facilitate parenting programmes and student workshops within the school partnership.
• Maintain accurate, confidential records and comply with data protection and information-sharing protocols.
• Provide monitoring data, outcome reports and case studies as requested by management.
• Represent the Family Support Service at school and community events and network activities.
• Engage in ongoing training, supervision and professional development.
• Comply with safeguarding, health and safety and GDPR policies.
• Work as part of a multi-school team to provide cross-school family support.

Job description

The Family and Pupil Support Worker will provide targeted, direct support to children, young people, parents, carers, and families where needs have been identified. This includes delivering one-to-one support, mentoring, and coaching to help address emotional wellbeing, mental health challenges, parenting difficulties, and barriers to education or school attendance.

Purpose of the Role

• Provide early intervention family support to improve outcomes for children and families, aiming to reduce the need for specialist or statutory involvement.
• Signpost and connect families, children, and young people to a wide range of local and national support services.
• Manage a caseload of vulnerable families, delivering targeted interventions that promote positive parenting, enhance children's social and emotional development, and help remove barriers to education and wellbeing.
• Deliver one-to-one and group-based support to students through targeted emotional and social development interventions, enabling them to thrive and reach their full potential.
• Support the Family Support Team in strategic service development, contributing to planning and taking the lead on specific projects or focus areas as required.
• Work in partnership with school, professionals, and external agencies to provide a coordinated and holistic approach to family and student support.
• Co-facilitate parenting workshops and student programmes that promote resilience, emotional regulation, and positive relationships.

Key Responsibilities

• Work directly with families to build engagement with schools, strengthen social and safety skills, and support active participation in the wider community.
• Ensure all services are inclusive and responsive to the diverse needs of families from different racial, cultural, and religious backgrounds.
• Support the Families First Assessment process and take the lead in coordinating Team Around the Family (TAF) meetings.
• Liaise effectively with a range of professionals, including social workers, education staff, health professionals, and Headteachers, to ensure a joined-up approach to family support.
• Facilitate and co-facilitate parenting programmes and student workshops across the school partnership, contributing to early intervention and preventative work.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential written and electronic records, ensuring adherence to data protection and information-sharing protocols.
• Provide monitoring data, outcome reports, and case studies as requested by the management team.
• Actively participate in school and community events to promote and represent the Family Support Service.
• Engage in ongoing training, supervision, and professional development to maintain high-quality practice.
• Comply with all relevant organisational policies and procedures, including safeguarding, health and safety and GDPR.
• Work collaboratively as part of a multi-school support team, offering cross-school support to families with children attending different settings.
• Share knowledge, resources, and expertise to support the continued development of parenting and family support services.
• Undertake any other reasonable duties in line with the role and responsibilities, as directed by the line manager.

A full driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential for this role.
