Job summary

Bryson Pathways Children’s Service is seeking a Family Support Worker to provide in-home support to families with children aged 0–17, helping them manage daily life with emotional and practical guidance.

You will build trusting relationships, support parenting skills, establish routines, and work with social workers to plan goals, under supervision and with CRM documentation.

Qualifications

• Minimum of QCF Level 3 Child Care qualification or equivalent.
• NVQ Level 3 Children’s Care, Learning & Development or CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Child Care & Education (VRQ).
• CACHE Level 3 Extended Diploma in Child Care & Education (NI/Wales).
• BTEC HND/National Diploma in Childcare Studies.
• Degree in Social Work.

Responsibilities

• Develop positive, trusting relationships with families to foster engagement and collaboration.
• Provide guidance and encouragement to parents, promoting parenting skills through modelling and support.
• Help establish consistent daily routines (mealtimes, bedtimes, homework) and manage children’s behaviour constructively.
• Empower families to build self-confidence and self-esteem through strengths-based approaches.
• Work with children and families to address multiple and complex needs, improving family resilience.
• Support a caseload of families and work in their homes for up to 12 weeks.
• Deliver interventions aimed at measurable, positive outcomes and regularly evaluate progress.
• Manage a small caseload of families with home visiting tailored to needs.
• Participate in case reviews, planning meetings, and MDT discussions for coordinated support.
• Collaborate with social workers and other professionals to set goals tailored to each family’s needs.
• Participate in regular supervision and team meetings.
• Keep accurate records using a CRM system and prepare written reports as required.

Bryson Pathways Children’s Service provides targeted support to families with children and young people aged 0–17 who are facing significant challenges (Tier 3 under the NI Family Support Model). We are looking for a Family Support Worker to work directly with families in their homes to provide them with emotional and practical support so they can confidently manage everyday life.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide guidance and encouragement to parents, promoting the development of effective parenting skills through modelling and support.
• Assist families in establishing consistent daily routines (e.g., mealtimes, bedtimes, homework) and in managing children’s behaviour constructively.

• Minimum of QCF Level 3 Child Care qualification or:

  • Degree in Social Work
• Minimum of 1 years paid employment working with children or families
• 5 GCSE’s at grade C and above including English Language
• Clean drivers’ licence, access to transport and Business (Class) Car Insurance for the vehicle and driver
