Job summary

Weightmans LLP in Manchester invites a Family Solicitor to join our North West team. You will manage your own caseload of private family cases with supervision and support the head of department.

The role covers financial matters, children cases, domestic abuse, prenuptial and cohab agreements, with opportunities to develop business and enhance client service. You will work closely with partners and colleagues to deliver high-quality outcomes.

Qualifications

• NQ to 3 years PQE in family law.
• Strong interest across family law including children and financial matters.
• Experience with court procedures and client advisory is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Manage own caseload of private family matters with appropriate supervision.
• Assist other case handlers in the team and wider department as required.
• Advise clients on financial matters, children cases, domestic abuse, pre-nups and cohab agreements.
• Attend court on behalf of clients.
• Prepare correspondence, notes and court paperwork.
• Assist with marketing the services of the team and wider department.
• Achieve financial targets and KPIs.
• Ensure relevant deadlines and quality measures are adhered to.
• Comply with Weightmans policies and values.
• Contribute to business development.

Our Family team covers the whole of the UK, with personnel in Glasgow, London, Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds and Newcastle. As a Family Solicitor you will be required to help develop and expand our Family Law practice in the North West. You will work closely with the head of department Fiona Davidson to ensure excellent client service. Main duties and responsibilities

• Manage own caseload of private client work with appropriate supervision
• Assist other case handlers in the team and wider department with their cases as may be required
• Advise and take instructions from clients in relation to their financial matters, children cases, domestic abuse, pre nups and cohab agreements
• Attend court on behalf of clients
• Prepare correspondence, notes and court paperwork
• Assist with marketing the services of the team and wider department
• Achieve financial targets and KPIs
• Ensure relevant deadlines and quality measures are adhered to
• Comply with relevant Weightmans client policies and procedures
• Work in accordance with Weightmans' values

You will have previous experience and a genuine and demonstrable interest in the above area of work. We also require you to have/be:

• NQ to 3 Years PQE
• A keen interest and wide experience in all aspects of family Law, including Children and Financial cases. Experience of high value/complex cases for high net worth individuals would be desirable
• Court experience preparing cases for the Sheriff Court and Court of Session
• Business development skills and experience - an existing network of contacts would be highly advantageous
• Good IT skills
• Good communication skills
