Job summary

YMCA Fairthorne Group is seeking a practical and proactive facilities maintenance person to manage caretaking duties across multiple sites. You will carry out reactive and planned maintenance, support safety checks, and help ensure spaces remain safe, compliant and welcoming for residents and activities.

The role requires hands-on skills across building maintenance, good IT use for records, and a UK driving licence with willingness to travel between sites.

Qualifications

• Experience in caretaking, facilities or maintenance roles.
• Knowledge of general building maintenance and grounds care.
• Understanding of health and safety requirements and safe practices.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel between YMCA sites.

Responsibilities

• Undertake day-to-day maintenance and cleaning across YMCA properties.
• Respond promptly to maintenance defects and repair requests.
• Maintain stocks of maintenance supplies, tools and materials.
• Order and inventory management to prevent delays in work.
• Set up rooms and facilities for community bookings and events.
• Carry out basic carpentry, plumbing and building maintenance works.
• Provide first-line response to incidents including fire, flood, or property damage.
• Ensure works comply with health and safety legislation and safe working practices.
