Job description

Bring your passion, ideas, and purpose to life in a company that can truly help you achieve your full potential.

World Leader in Glucose Monitoring, Abbott Diabetes Care designs, develops, and manufactures glucose monitoring systems for use in both home and hospital settings. Our Witney site is positioned at the centre of both Manufacturing Excellence and Innovation in the development and manufacture of our test strip and biosensor products used by patients and healthcare professionals for the day-to-day management of diabetes. We are passionate about doing work that improves the quality of people’s lives.

As a result of strong business growth, industry-leading product development in the biosensor business and a long-term commitment to high volume manufacturing in our Witney Centre of Excellence, we have an exciting opportunity to join our site Facilities Engineering team, with a particular focus on contractor management.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Support our expanding site with a focus on contractor liaison - obtaining quotes, shortlisting, selecting, onboarding, permits to work, etc.
  2. Prepare documentation such as room validations.
  3. Coordinate and project manage updates, improvements, and alterations.
  4. Work closely with internal teams and external contractors to ensure compliance with safety regulations and Abbott engineering standards.
  5. Complete all work tasks in a timely manner, working safely with specific procedures and documenting all work on an electronic PC-based maintenance reporting system.
  6. Attend site outside normal working hours as part of an emergency call-out rota.
Qualifications:

To be successful, you will ideally have served a recognised apprenticeship within an electrical engineering, building services, or facilities related field, or bring strong experience in a similar role with equivalent level qualifications. You will possess a breadth of experience in contractor management and project planning/leadership. We are looking for someone who is ambitious, highly organised, and excited about joining a team at the forefront of Diabetes Care innovation.

The ideal candidate will be a proactive individual who takes initiative and is able to work within a small team, but also interact on a wider business scale. You will need to have excellent communication and time management skills, and be comfortable working in a fast-paced, changing environment.

In addition to a competitive salary, Abbott offers a highly attractive benefits package which includes a defined-contribution pension scheme, private healthcare, life assurance, and a flexible benefits scheme tailored to your requirements. Here at Witney, we also like to help our employees live life to the fullest, offering a range of optional initiatives including onsite allotments, couch to 5k campaigns, beekeeping, yoga, and more!
