Our Witney site is positioned at the centre of both Manufacturing Excellence and Innovation in the development and manufacture of our test strip and biosensor products used by patients and healthcare professionals for the day-to-day management of diabetes. We are passionate about doing work that improves the quality of people’s lives.

As a result of strong business growth, industry-leading product development in the biosensor business and a long-term commitment to high volume manufacturing in our Witney Centre of Excellence, we have an exciting opportunity to join our site Facilities Engineering team, with a particular focus on contractor management.

Day to day, you will be responsible for supporting our expanding site, focusing predominantly on contractor liaison - obtaining quotes, shortlisting and selecting, onboarding, permits to work etc, as well as documentation preparation - room validations etc. Coordinating and project managing updates, improvements, and alterations, you will work closely with both internal teams and external contractors to ensure all activities are carried out within the safe working conditions required by the factory inspectorate and other statutory and regulatory bodies and comply with all relevant local codes and practices and the Abbott engineering Standards.

You will be required to work un-supervised and complete all work tasks in a timely manner, working safely with specific procedures for tasks and documenting all worked carried out on an electronic PC based maintenance reporting system. You will also be required to attend site outside normal workings hours as part of an emergency call out rota.

To be successful you will ideally have served a recognised apprenticeship within an electrical engineering, building services or facilities related field, or bring a strong underpinning experience in a similar role with equivalent level qualifications. You will bring a breadth of experience in contractor management and project planning/leadership. We are looking for someone who is ambitious, highly organised and excited about joining a team at the forefront of Diabetes Care innovation. The ideal candidate will be a proactive individual who takes initiative and is able to work within a small team, but interactive on a wider business scale. You will need to have excellent communication and time management skills, and be comfortable working in a fast-paced, changing environment.

In addition to a competitive salary, Abbott offers a highly attractive benefits package which includes a defined-contribution pension scheme, private healthcare, life assurance and a flexible benefits scheme which you can tailor to your own requirements. Here at Witney, we also like to help our employee’s live life to the fullest, and therefore we offer a range of optional initiatives for you to get involved in, including onsite allotments, couch to 5k campaigns, bee keeping, yoga and more!
