Job summary

Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council, via Hatched Recruitment Group, are seeking a Porter to support the Facilities Management team at Lagan Valley Island. The role covers event setup, mail delivery, and general site duties for weddings, conferences, and performances.

You will work flexible shifts on a Monday–Sunday rota, gaining experience across reception, security, cleaning, and maintenance in a busy civic venue environment.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year's experience in a similar post.
• Experience in at least four of the following: mail room, putting up, taking down and storing equipment, reception, security, cleaning, maintenance work.
• Flexibility to work early, middle and late shifts on a Monday to Sunday rota, including weekends.
• Strong customer care skills.
• Two or more years' experience in a similar post and knowledge of electronic mailing systems are desirable.

Responsibilities

• Helping run the mail room, including preparing, delivering and collecting post and goods across departments.
• Setting up and changing over rooms for events, including theatre shows, weddings, conferences, banquets and exhibitions.
• Putting up, taking down and storing equipment in line with manual handling procedures.
• Setting up audio-visual equipment and operating lighting and PA for weddings and events.
• Opening and closing the building, key holding and providing security cover.
• Checking deliveries, carrying out general cleaning and helping with maintenance.
• Covering reception, the switchboard, computerised bookings and cash handling.
• Supervising public use of the facility and dealing with customer queries.
