Job summary

The National Trust is seeking a Facilities Manager to lead all planned preventative, reactive and small projects across the estate. You will head a facilities team of five, ensuring high standards of maintenance and safety while coordinating with department heads and duty managers.

You will work across South Shropshire and Kinver Edge, based at Dudmaston Estate, with weekend/holiday rota coverage as needed to support visitor experience and conservation goals.

Qualifications

• Experience managing facilities or supervising teams.

Summary

Are you committed to caring for historic buildings and creating safe, high-quality environments for everyone who visits and works here? We're looking for a Facilities Manager to join the team.

You'll play a vital role in maintaining this extraordinary group of properties and providing visible, hands-on leadership to ensure it is safe, resilient and ready to support ambitious plans for visitor experience, conservation and growth.

We're looking for a well–organised individual to ensure our properties and facilities are aligned with relevant Health & Safety, Environmental, Fire & Security standards. You'll be based across the National Trust properties in South Shropshire and Kinver Edge as you'll be on property, primarily working weekdays. You'll be required to cover rota gaps and work peak holiday seasons which will include weekends and bank holidays.

You'll work in a busy environment, based at the Dudmaston Estate but working across South Shropshire and Kinver Edge, from Rock Houses to big Country Houses stretching into the Shropshire Hills National Landscape. You'll be able to access knowledge and guidance from property teams, as well as our specialists. As an integral part of a motivated and enthusiastic group of people, you'll play a key part in helping us deliver our goals. What you'll be doing

As our Facilities Manager, you'll be leading all planned preventative, reactive and small projects across the estate. You'll also be involved in the day-to-day running of capital works projects.

You'll lead and manage the facilities team of 5 people, who are responsible for maintaining high standards throughout all areas visited by people, including staff and volunteers.

You'll also form strong links with your fellow heads of department, and work together to improve things and use resources efficiently. You'll be part of the duty manager team, which means that you'll be on a rota as an occasional duty manager.

Who we're looking for

• experienced in managing facilities, or supervising, and looking to develop your career
• keenly interested in looking after buildings and assets to a high standard
• skilled in managing relations with contractors
• focused on detail, especially to do with health and safety and compliance
• knowledgeable of environmental and climate initiatives
• able to manage large maintenance budgets and make sure projects run smoothly.
