Job summary

The National Trust is seeking a Facilities Manager to care for historic buildings across South Shropshire and Kinver Edge, based at the Dudmaston Estate. You’ll lead planned, reactive and capital works, and ensure health and safety, environmental standards and visitor experience are maintained.

You’ll manage a facilities team of five, work weekdays with occasional weekend rota duties as part of the duty manager team, and oversee contractor relationships and budgets to keep estates safe and

You’ll play a vital role in maintaining this extraordinary group of properties and providing visible, hands‑on leadership to ensure it is safe, resilient and ready to support ambitious plans for visitor experience, conservation and growth.

We're looking for a well‑organised individual to ensure our properties and facilities are aligned with relevant Health & Safety, Environmental, Fire & Security standards. you’ll be based across the National Trust properties in South Shropshire and Kinver Edge as you'll be on property, primarily working weekdays. You'll be required to cover rota gaps and work peak holiday seasons which will include, weekends and bank holidays.

You’ll work in a busy environment, based at the Dudmaston Estate but working across South Shropshire and Kinver Edge, from Rock Houses to big Country Houses stretching into the Shropshire Hills National Landscape. You’ll be able to access knowledge and guidance from property teams, as well as our specialists. As an integral part of a motivated and enthusiastic group of people, you’ll play a key part in helping us deliver our goals. There is scope and opportunities to develop within the role, which will help grow your knowledge and confidence.

What you'll be doing

As our Facilities Manager, you'll be leading all planned preventative, reactive and small projects across the estate. You'll also be involved in the day-to-day running of capital works projects.

You’ll lead and manage the facilities team of 5 people, who are responsible for maintaining high standards throughout all areas visited by people, including staff and volunteers.

You’ll be part of the duty manager team, which means that you’ll be on a rota as an occasional duty manager.

Who we’re looking for

• experienced in managing facilities, or supervising, and looking to develop your career
• keenly interested in looking after buildings and assets to a high standard
• skilled in managing relations with contractors
