Almero Student in Birmingham is hiring a Maintenance Operative to sustain high standards across our student accommodation. You will perform reactive maintenance, coordinate with the Property Manager, and support health and safety compliance while delivering excellent resident service.

Ideal candidates have 2-3 years in property maintenance, own vehicle access, and a solid grasp of statutory requirements. IT reporting and strong communication are essential.

Qualifications

• 2-3 years hands-on property maintenance across carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical.
• Locally based with access to own vehicle for travel.
• Good understanding of statutory maintenance requirements (fire, water regs).
• Electrical and/or plumbing experience with own tools is advantageous.
• IT reporting and record-keeping skills.
• Detail-oriented with strong communication abilities.

Responsibilities

• Process reactive maintenance jobs via StuRents and inform residents by email or in person.
• Rectify day-to-day maintenance tasks including carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical.
• Carry out daily building walks to check communal areas, plant rooms, storerooms and bin stores.
• Assist on-site contractors to ensure timely, safe completion of works.
• Perform regular compliance checks (daily/weekly/monthly/quarterly) for each property.
• Maintain Fire and Water Log books in line with requirements.
• Assist with end-of-tenancy inspections and turnover maintenance.
• Coordinate with third-party contractors for access and support.
