Job summary

Northeastern Technical College (NETC) seeks a Trades Specialist II to support facilities maintenance across campus buildings and grounds. Under supervision, you will perform repairs, install plumbing systems, electrical components, and HVAC work while operating multiple tools and equipment.

You will also assist with grounds care and event setup, ensuring safety and quality in daily tasks. Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid driver’s license, and at least one year

Qualifications

• State minimum: Experience, on-the-job training, and/or demonstrated knowledge related to the area of employment.
• NETC minimum: Must have a valid driver’s license.
• NETC preferred: A high school diploma; or a 10th grade equivalency and one year of related work experience.
• Knowledge of safety practices relevant to the area of employment.
• Knowledge of tools, equipment, materials and supplies used in the designated trade.
• Ability to perform heavy manual labor.
• Ability to communicate effectively.
• Willingness to work in confined spaces.
• Under direct supervision of Facilities Maintenance Manager, employee will be given tasks daily to be completed in a satisfactory and timely manner.

Responsibilities

• Helps perform routine maintenance and service duties in areas such as carpentry/remodeling, painting, masonry, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing.
• Repairs, maintains, and installs plumbing systems including fixtures and lines.
• Operates and maintains necessary tools and equipment.
• Replaces and repairs doors, windows, and locks.
• Assists in maintaining inventory of supplies needed in maintenance and grounds.
• Maintains and services fire extinguishers and exit lights monthly.
• Maintains College vehicles including golf carts, trucks, cars, trailers, and forklifts.
• Assists in set up for events including transporting and setting up stage, chairs, podiums, lighting, and banners/backdrops.
• Performs additional duties as assigned.
