Job summary

Synergi Recruitment seeks a Facilities Maintenance Engineer to maintain building services mechanical systems across UK sites. You will service AHUs, FCUs, pumps, bearings, and perform alignments, diagnosing faults and coordinating contractor work.

The ideal candidate brings NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in mechanical disciplines, experience with building services, and willingness to cover on-call shifts, including weekends or evenings.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in mechanical, plumbing, or HVAC.
• Experience maintaining building services mechanical systems.
• Able to work on-call including some weekends/evenings.

Responsibilities

• Service and maintain AHUs, FCUs, pump seals, bearings, and alignment.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical faults.
• Participate in on-call rota and seasonal shift patterns.
• Prioritise maintenance tasks to meet business needs and high standards.
• Supervise on-site contractors and ensure safe work.
• Provide technical support for building plant and equipment.
• Adhere to health, safety and environmental procedures.
• Carry out additional duties as required by management.

Job Role & Key Responsibilities

Permanent role responsible for maintaining and servicing mechanical systems within building services environments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Service and maintain AHUs, FCUs, pump seals, bearings, and alignment
• Diagnose and repair mechanical faults
• Participate in on-call rota and seasonal shift patterns (including some weekends/evenings)
• Prioritise maintenance tasks to meet business needs and complete work to high standards
• Supervise contractors on-site, ensuring safe and effective work completion
• Provide technical support for building plant and equipment
• Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental procedures
• Maintain confidentiality in all aspects of work
• Carry out additional duties as required by management

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

• Engineering/Technical qualification (Apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 in mechanical, plumbing, or HVAC)
• Proven experience in building services mechanical maintenance
• Competence in AHU, FCU, pump seal, bearing, and alignment work
• Proficiency in other building services disciplines (BMS, electrical)
• Ability to complete reports and job sheets manually or electronically
• Broader multi-skilled capability across mechanical and electrical building systems
