Job summary

YMCA Bournemouth is seeking a Facilities Maintenance and Health and Safety Worker to help maintain the Association's premises and housing stock. You will support painting, decorating, general repairs, and ensure safety across sites.

Within the Housing department, you will perform health and safety checks and assist with maintenance schedules while coordinating with the Estates team to keep premises safe. This role offers development opportunities within a values-driven charity.

Qualifications

• Role focuses on facilities maintenance and health and safety responsibilities.
• Experience in building maintenance and safety checks preferred.
• Ability to carry out general repairs and health and safety compliance.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with painting, decorating, and general repairs of non-specialist nature to the interior and exterior of YMCA Bournemouth's housing stock as required. (There is no requirement to undertake electrical maintenance work, which will be carried out by the Building Services team or external contractors.)
• Carrying out daily health and safety checks of Delta Flats and the hostel, completing the health and safety checklist and emailing it to the relevant managers.
• Meeting weekly with the Health and Safety Manager and/or Head of Estates to review any health and safety concerns and ensure actions are followed through to keep YMCA premises and people safe.
• Assisting with planned preventative maintenance in line with the maintenance schedule.
• Carrying out periodic inspections, including smoke and heat detectors, fire doors, and fire extinguishers, as required or directed by the Head of Estates and Compliance and/or the Housing Lead.
