Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment LTD. is seeking a proactive School Caretaker for a Warrington school. Immediate start, full-time term-time role, with duties maintaining buildings, grounds, and facilities to a safe, secure standard.

You will carry out routine maintenance, respond to issues, support deliveries, monitor health and safety, and work with staff and contractors. DBS check required; school experience desirable.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a caretaking, maintenance, facilities, or similar role.
• Good practical and DIY skills.
• Strong understanding of health and safety procedures.
• Ability to identify and respond to maintenance issues.
• A reliable, proactive, and flexible approach.
• Good organisational and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• A valid enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply for one).
• Desirable: previous school/education setting experience.
• Desirable: maintenance or trades qualifications.
• Desirable: basic plumbing, electrical, decorating, or general building maintenance.
• Desirable: safeguarding and site security knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Carry out general maintenance and repairs across the school site.
• Ensure the school buildings and grounds are safe, secure, and well maintained.
• Complete routine checks of the site, facilities, and equipment.
• Respond to maintenance issues and report more complex repairs where required.
• Support the opening and securing of the school site.
• Maintain outdoor areas, including basic grounds and general upkeep.
• Assist with deliveries, moving furniture, setting up rooms, and other site requirements.
• Monitor health and safety across the site and report any concerns.
• Work closely with school staff and external contractors where required.

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Caretaker to support the day-to-day running and maintenance of the school site. You'll play an important role in ensuring the school buildings, grounds, facilities, and equipment are safe, secure, clean, and well maintained for students, staff, and visitors.
