The opportunity has arisen to recruit a Driver to join our friendly and welcoming team for Stores and Transport at Penn Hospital in Wolverhampton and Pear Tree Lane in Dudley.
A full clean driving license is required. Must be able to drive a range of different vehicles and be able to maneuver cages of goods in all areas and environments so a clear understanding and experience in manual handling is a must.
The post is part of a job share and mainly in Wolverhampton and Stourbridge areas though you must be flexible and able to travel to other areas if required.
Candidates must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to multi-task, be flexible in their approach and be reactive to changing service need. The successful candidate will demonstrate a good standard of education, proven keyboard skills, enjoy team working and have previous experience in a customer-focused environment.

The Trust is rated ‘Good’ from CQC (Care Quality Commission) and will become the lead provider for mental health services across The Black Country . We have recently invested in newly created clinical divisions and are currently developing new models of integrated primary and secondary care for adults and older adults, as well launching a far-reaching inpatient strategy, working to eradicate dormitories and building new facilities.
This ambitious model is multi-agency and multi-disciplinary, opening the door for you to work in a collaborative and flexible way with partners, service users, carers and their families.
The Black Country Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust Transport Department provides a trust wide services across various in-patient and community sites in and around Sandwell, Wolverhampton, Dudley and Walsall. Transport outside of these areas is required on a regular basis.
The post holder will be required to undertake duties, on a daily basis, such as delivery of furniture to all Trust sites, loading and unloading of goods from cages to vehicles and to their final destination on Trust property and the moving and lifting of heavy goods.
The jobholder will be required to be flexible, reactive and proactive to the ever-changing departmental needs and customer requirements and adapt accordingly.
Candidates should have a full cleaning driving license, work on their own initiative, work on their own or part of a team and have a flexible approach to work is essential. Previous experience of manual handling, of dealing with other staff groups and being able to follow written procedure is essential. Previous experience of working in the NHS as a driver of porter is desirable.

The salary range quoted is as per NHS Agenda for Change pay structures. This is based on the number of years’ working directly within the NHS at the advertised pay band. Experience gained with other NHS Trusts will apply, but candidates without prior experience working direct for the NHS would normally be appointed at the lowest point unless they can demonstrate the equivalent experience and then be eligible for incremental increases in future years.
Successful applicants for clinical posts up to and including Band 4 are expected to hold the national Care Certificate qualification and will be supported to attain this once in post.
