Job summary

Balfour Beatty plc is seeking a Facilities Assistant to ensure clean, safe and well‑maintained welfare facilities on a major project in the UK. You will support day‑to‑day welfare management, inspections, stock control and coordination with cleaners, suppliers and site teams.

You will be at the heart of the site, helping create a safe and positive working environment where colleagues can perform at their best. The role offers hybrid working options and opportunities to improve welfare services.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out routine inspections of welfare facilities (toilets, washrooms, changing and drying facilities, canteens, break areas, drinking water stations).
  • Ensure welfare areas are clean, stocked, and maintained to a high standard.
  • Coordinate cleaning services, waste removal, maintenance activities and supplies.
  • Record inspections, defects, stock levels and actions taken.
  • Report issues and escalate non-compliance to site management.
  • Support CDM 2015 welfare requirements and site procedures.
  • Assist with site inductions and welfare briefings as required.
  • Liaise with cleaners, suppliers, security, IT, HSE and project teams.
  • Support office administration and wider project activities.
  • Promote continuous improvement in welfare and office services.

We're looking for a Facilities Assistant to play a key role in ensuring our construction teams have access to clean, safe and well-maintained welfare facilities throughout the life of a major project.




This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a varied, people-focused role where no two days are the same. You'll be at the heart of the project, helping create a safe and positive working environment for everyone on site.




What you'll be doing



As a Facilities Assistant, you'll support the day-to-day management of site welfare facilities, ensuring they remain compliant, well-maintained and fit for purpose.




Your responsibilities will include:





  • Carrying out routine inspections of welfare facilities including toilets, washrooms, changing and drying facilities, canteens, break areas and drinking water stations

  • Ensuring welfare areas are clean, hygienic, fully stocked and maintained to a high standard

  • Coordinating cleaning services, waste removal, maintenance activities and consumable supplies

  • Recording inspections, defects, stock levels and actions taken

  • Reporting issues and escalating any non-compliance to the site management team

  • Supporting compliance with CDM 2015 welfare requirements and company procedures

  • Assisting with site inductions and welfare briefings where required

  • Liaising with cleaners, suppliers, security teams, IT, HSE colleagues and the wider project team

  • Supporting office administration processes and wider project activities as needed

  • Promoting continuous improvement and identifying ways to enhance welfare and office services




Who we're looking for



We're looking for someone who is organised, proactive and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environment.




You’ll ideally have:





  • Strong organisational and administrative skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities

  • A practical approach to problem solving

  • Confidence working independently and using your own initiative

  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications

  • The ability to build positive working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders

  • Experience within facilities, office administration or a similar support role
