About the role

  • Provide project teams with expert HS&W technical advice, guidance and support.
  • Collaboratively engage with both internal & external customers and the supply chain to promote zero harm delivery.
  • In conjunction with operational management complete a local and bespoke risk-based Service Level Agreement with each project which is kept under quarterly review to provide assurance that the project is compliant with HS&W requirements of UK regulatory framework and the UK Business Management System (BMS).
  • Undertake regular site inspections as per project risk matrix and produce formal reports using the Project Portal to record planned & unplanned HS&W inspections.
  • Undertakes regular checks on Health and Safety Risk Management ensuring that appropriate risks and opportunities have been identified and are being implemented.
  • Provide expert support to investigate accidents, incidents and near miss events in accordance with Balfour Beatty Group Standards and BMS requirements.
  • Support work winning teams with quality HS&W responses for bids, proposals and PQQs for future projects.
  • Engage and develop relationships with design & engineering teams to eliminate and reduce HS&W risk through design.
  • Challenge the norm by innovating and improving the way we work, whilst keeping pace with industry change and promote successes.
  • Provide support and mentoring to other HS&W colleagues in their development.
Who we're looking for
  • Relevant HS qualifications with relevant on site experience.
  • Full clean driving licence, and willingness to travel
  • Strong understanding of UK Health and Safety Regulatory Framework.
  • Ability to influence and promote a positive HS&W culture by engaging and conversing at all levels.
  • Ability to undertake project planning, project management and work to budgets.
  • Competence in incident investigation.
  • Ability to prepare formal written reports on HS&W topics.
  • Demonstrates commitment to continuous learning to refine, further develop and apply expertise to add distinctive value to customers and Balfour Beatty.
