Job summary

Balfour Beatty plc is seeking an experienced electrical maintenance professional to independently deliver and coordinate electrical works across the UK property estate. You will ensure safety, compliance, and operational performance while upholding health & safety governance and statutory duties.

The role requires articulation with clients and subcontractors, supervision of teams, and ability to lead RAMS development while prioritising critical tasks across multiple sites.

Qualifications

  • Electrical City & Guilds 2391 qualification and 18th Edition knowledge.
  • NVQ Level 3 plus City & Guilds 2360 Parts 1 and 2.
  • Completed recognised apprenticeship with current ECS Gold Card.
  • Proven experience working independently across multiple sites in Facilities Management.
  • IT literate to complete maintenance reports.

Responsibilities

  • Liaise with clients, stakeholders and subcontractors to ensure safe, compliant delivery.
  • Coordinate, induct and supervise subcontractors during planned and reactive maintenance activities.
  • Prepare, review and implement RAMS and health & safety documentation, promoting a safety culture.
  • Act as Authorised Person for LV electrical, mechanical and working at height duties.
  • Deliver planned and reactive electrical maintenance across the UK estate with minimal supervision.
  • Manage and complete planned preventative maintenance (PPM) for statutory compliance and asset reliability.
  • Support minor project works, defect rectification and compliance-driven remedials.
  • Maintain spares, materials and equipment to support service delivery and minimise risk.
  • Deliver works in line with statutory requirements, company procedures and SLAs.

Job description

About the role

In this role, you will independently deliver, coordinate and assure electrical hard services
maintenance and minor project works across the Balfour Beatty property estate
(UK-wide). You will be required to operate with a high degree of autonomy, ensuring electrical systems remain safe, compliant and fully operational, while contributing directly to statutory compliance, health & safety governance and service performance across multiple sites in the UK.

What you'll be doing

  • To liaise effectively with clients, internal stakeholders and specialist
    subcontractors to ensure works are delivered safely, compliantly and to
    agreed standards;

  • To coordinate, induct and supervise subcontractors during planned and
    reactive maintenance activities, ensuring quality, compliance and safe
    delivery;

  • To prepare, review and implement RAMS and relevant Health & Safety
    documentation, and promote a strong health & safety culture through
    toolbox talks, inductions and on-site compliance oversight;

  • To be appointed as and act as Authorised Person for relevant duties such
    as LV electrical, mechanical and working at height;

  • To deliver planned and reactive electrical maintenance across the UK
    property estate with minimal day-to-day supervision, exercising professional
    judgement to prioritise workload, resolve technical issues and undertake
    electrical fault-finding and compliance-led works;

  • To manage and complete planned preventative maintenance (PPM)
    activities, ensuring statutory compliance and asset reliability across the
    estate;

  • To support minor project works, defect rectification and compliance-driven
    remedials across multiple sites;

  • To maintain appropriate spares, materials and equipment to support
    effective service delivery and minimise operational risk;

  • To deliver works in line with statutory requirements, company procedures
    and agreed SLAs, applying professional judgement within established
    frameworks.

Who we're looking for

  • Electrical City and Guilds 2391 Electrical testing and inspection to 18th
    Edition

  • NVQ Level 3 plus city and guilds 2360 parts 1 and 2

  • Completed recognised apprenticeship and hold current ECS gold grade
    card

  • Proven experience working independently across multiple sites within a
    Facilities Management environment

  • IT Literate to Complete company documents i.e. maintenance reports.

  • Strong background in fault-finding, maintenance and compliance-led works

  • Sound knowledge of UK Health and Safety legislation inc. SMSTS or similar

  • Possesses full driving licence

  • Ability to manage diverse works and associated supply chain activities

  • PAT test experience essential

  • Willing to work away from home and out of hours where required, in line with
    business needs

  • Ability to carry out other works outside of electrical – not limited to basic
    plumbing, building fabric works etc

  • Happy to work alone or within a team
