Bennett & Game Recruitment Ltd. is seeking a Fabricator Welder in Wombwell, Barnsley, South Yorkshire. You will read engineering drawings, fabricate and assemble structural steel components, and perform welding to meet project specs.

The role involves safe operation of fabrication tools and measuring equipment, working with overhead cranes, and coordinating with the team to hit production deadlines. A trade qualification is preferred but not essential, with a permanent, workshop-based position

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Fabricate and assemble structural steel components (UBs, UCs, PFCs, CHS).
• Perform cutting, grinding and welding tasks to spec.
• Use hand tools, fabrication machinery and measuring equipment safely.
• Ensure components meet dimensional accuracy and quality standards.
• Operate lifting equipment including overhead cranes.
• Work with supervisors to meet production deadlines.
• Maintain a clean, safe working environment.

Position: Fabricator Welder

Location: Wombwell, Barnsley, South Yorkshire

Salary: £16.74 per hour (Days) / £19.48 per hour (Nights)

Working Arrangement: Workshop-based

Employment Type: Permanent

A Fabricator Welder is required in Wombwell, Barnsley, South Yorkshire, for our client, a leading UK structural steelwork specialist. The company designs, manufactures and constructs structural steelwork for a wide range of projects across the UK and Europe.

Job Overview

• Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications.
• Fabricating and assembling structural steel components, including universal beams (UBs), universal columns (UCs), parallel flange channels (PFCs) and circular hollow sections (CHSs).
• Carrying out cutting, grinding and welding tasks to meet project specifications.
• Using hand tools, fabrication machinery and measuring equipment safely and effectively.
• Ensuring fabricated components meet dimensional accuracy and quality standards.
• Operating lifting equipment, including overhead cranes.
• Working alongside supervisors and colleagues to meet production deadlines.
• Maintaining a clean, tidy and safe working environment.
• Following health and safety procedures and wearing the correct PPE at all times.

Job Requirements

• Previous experience in steel fabrication.
• Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.

Salary & Benefits

• Day shift: £16.74 per hour.
• Night shift: £19.48 per hour.
