Job summary

Supreme Recruitment are seeking an experienced Fabricator to join a well-established manufacturer of bespoke architectural metalwork in Smethwick. The role is permanent and full-time with an £16.00–£18.00 per hour salary, and overtime regularly available.

You will fabricate staircases, handrails and other metalwork from engineering drawings, using grinders, brake presses and MIG/TIG welding, delivering high-quality finish and meeting project timelines.

Qualifications

• Experience reading and working from engineering drawings.
• Fabrication experience for staircases and architectural metalwork is desirable.
• MIG and/or TIG welding experience.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate bespoke and feature staircases and handrails.
• Work from detailed engineering drawings and prepare materials for fabrication.
• Operate brake presses, grinders and other fabrication machinery; MIG/TIG weld as required.
• Ensure high standards of quality and finish in all work.

What are we looking for?

We are particularly interested in candidates with strong fabrication experience who are confident working from engineering drawings and producing high-quality metalwork from start to finish.

You should have experience with:

• Fabricating staircases, handrails and architectural metalwork desirable but not essential
• Reading and working accurately from engineering drawings
• Using grinders, brake presses and other metal cutting and shaping machinery
• Measuring, marking out and preparing materials for fabrication
• MIG and/or TIG welding
• Working to a high standard of accuracy and finish
• Working independently and as part of a team

Previous experience within architectural metalwork would be highly advantageous, although candidates with strong general fabrication experience will also be considered.

The role

Your day-to-day duties will include:

• Fabricating bespoke and feature staircases
• Manufacturing handrails and other architectural metalwork
• Working from detailed engineering drawings
• Cutting, shaping and preparing metal using a range of machinery
• Using brake presses, grinders and other fabrication equipment
• MIG/TIG welding when required
• Ensuring all work is completed to a high standard of quality and finish
