Job description

Working closely with the rental and workshop teams, they carry out fabrication repairs, bodywork restoration, structural modifications and general improvements to keep equipment safe, reliable and ready for hire. This support helps minimise downtime, maintain presentation standards and extend the working life of our fleet.

Where required, the team also undertakes occasional projects involving the manufacture of enclosures and containers, as well as ISO container conversions, to meet specific operational or customer requirements.

We are seeking an experienced Fabrication Production Manager to lead and manage our fabrication production operations, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, to the required quality standards and within agreed timescales and budgets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the fabrication workshop and paint spray booth.
  • Plan, coordinate and monitor production activities to ensure customer requirements and delivery deadlines are met.
  • Review production schedules, prioritise workloads and allocate resources to meet operational demands.
  • Assess labour, materials, equipment and capacity requirements to support effective production planning.
  • Identify potential production delays and implement appropriate solutions.
  • Provide daily supervision and leadership to a team of approximately 9 employees.
  • Allocate work and monitor individual and team performance to ensure productivity and quality standards are maintained.
  • Promote a positive, professional and collaborative working environment.
  • Support employee training, skills development and performance management.
  • Ensure employees understand and comply with company procedures, safe working practices and operational requirements.
  • Review existing manufacturing processes and identify opportunities to improve productivity, efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Implement improvements to working practices, production methods and resource utilisation.
  • Monitor production performance and use relevant information to support operational decision-making.
  • Minimise material waste, unnecessary costs, rework and production downtime.
  • Contribute to the Company’s wider continuous improvement objectives.
  • Maintain and monitor the quality of fabricated products, container conversions, paint finishes and rental fleet repairs.
  • Ensure work meets the required specifications, customer expectations and company quality standards.
  • Investigate quality issues, identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure appropriate quality checks and production records are completed and maintained.
  • Promote a culture of quality, accuracy and accountability throughout the department.
  • Take responsibility for monitoring and managing the department’s operating budget.
  • Monitor labour costs, material usage, productivity and other relevant expenditure.
  • Provide accurate information to support production costing, forecasting and resource planning.
  • Identify opportunities to control costs without compromising safety, quality or delivery commitments.
  • Escalate significant budgetary or operational issues to the Director.
  • Ensure all workshop activities are carried out in accordance with the Company’s Health and Safety Policy and applicable legislation.
  • Promote safe working practices throughout the fabrication workshop and paint spray booth.
  • Ensure work areas, equipment, machinery and company vehicles are maintained in a safe, clean and orderly condition.
  • Identify and report hazards, investigate incidents where required and support the implementation of corrective and preventative actions.
  • Ensure employees receive appropriate instruction and training in relevant health, safety and environmental procedures.
  • Support compliance with the Company’s environmental management requirements, including the responsible handling and disposal of waste and materials.
  • Carry out any other reasonable duties appropriate to the role and level of responsibility.
  • Maintain effective communication with the Director, colleagues and other departments.
  • Represent the Company professionally and uphold its standards, policies and values at all times.
