Job summary

Lancer Scott is recruiting for a building services maintenance role based at the University of the West of England, Bristol. You will deliver reactive and remedial maintenance to a high-profile client, using your initiative to solve technical problems and source parts where needed.

The role requires a trade qualification (C&G/NVQ L2/L3), at least 3 years’ relevant experience, and a full UK driving licence. A PDA/IT-literate approach and strong safety mindset are essential.

Qualifications

• A relevant qualification in your trade to C&G or NVQ L2/L3.
• Hold a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a building maintenance role, particularly in reactive and remedial maintenance.
• General knowledge of building systems related to reactive tasks including carpentry, wet trades, plumbing, tiling and groundworks.
• Current Full UK Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Use your own initiative to solve technical problems during reactive maintenance, sourcing parts and seeking manufacturer support.
• Provide detailed write-ups of works carried out to keep the client updated.
• Carry out works within timescales, in line with regulations and contract specifications.
• Report and record keeping, including maintenance logs and risk control measures.
• Utilise PDAs or electronic devices to complete works.
• Liaise with Helpdesk to ensure efficient response to tasks, solo or in a team.
• Observe health and safety standards and carry out risk assessments for tasks.

What is the purpose of the role and expectations?

Provide general building services maintenance to our high profile Client and go the extra mile to deliver to the highest quality standards in all areas of your performance. This role will be based up at the University of the West of England.

What will be my core responsibilities?

• Use your own initiative to solve complicated technical problems associated with reactive maintenance activities, including sourcing parts & materials and seeking manufacturer technical support.
• Provide detailed write-ups of works carried out to ensure our client is kept up to date at all times.
• Carry out all works within agreed timescales and to the highest standards, ensuring that you comply with current regulations and contract specifications.
• Reporting and recording procedures, including operation and maintenance logs and control measures to minimise risks.
• Utilise PDAs or electronic devices to complete works.
• Liaise closely with our Helpdesk to ensure efficient response to all works either working on your own or as part of a team.
• Observe the highest levels of health and safety at all times, including carrying out point of work risk assessments for every task to ensure the best possible working practices are adhered to.
• Deal with a variety of Clients on a daily basis. You will represent the Company and be courteous and professional in your dealings with them at all times.
• Provide a call out response across all contracts.

Essential:

• A relevant qualification in your trade to C&G or NVQ L2 or L3
• Hold a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a building maintenance role, particularly in relation to reactive and remedial maintenance
• Demonstrate a general wide knowledge of building systems in relation to reactive tasks encompassing, fabric tasks including Carpentry, wet trade tasks, minor plumbing tasks, tiling and ground works.
• Current Full UK Driver’s License

Desirable:

• FDIS or equivalent Fire door qualification
• Fire Compartmentation experience
• IOSH – Working safely or CSCS Card
• IT Skills – in the use of PDA’s
• Asbestos awareness training (UKATA)
• CSR/CSCS H&S qualification
