Job summary

Broadhurst School is seeking a caring, enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to support learning in our Nursery as part of the Early Years team. You will work alongside the class teacher to deliver EYFS activities, support routines, and nurture children aged 2-5 in a warm, collaborative setting.

The role provides daily hours 8:00am-4:00pm, with focus on safeguarding, development observations and helping children flourish through play and structured activities.

Qualifications

• Minimum NVQ Level 2 in Childcare, Early Years Education or equivalent is essential.
• Experience working with children aged 2-5 years in a nursery or school setting.
• Solid understanding of the EYFS framework and child development.
• Warm, patient and supportive approach with a genuine passion for early years education.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• First Aid and Safeguarding training desirable (training can be provided).

Responsibilities

• Support the class teacher in delivering engaging and age-appropriate EYFS activities.
• Assist with the preparation and organisation of classroom materials and learning areas.
• Work closely with individual children and small groups to support learning and development.
• Promote children's independence, confidence and social skills through play and structured activities.
• Help with personal care routines, ensuring a safe and hygienic environment.
• Contribute to observations and assessments to inform planning.
• Communicate positively with children, staff and parents.
• Follow school safeguarding and health & safety procedures at all times.
