Job summary

Academics Ltd is seeking an EYFS Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming Swindon primary school on a full-time, long-term basis. You will work in Reception, supporting children of all abilities, including those with Special Educational Needs.

You will assist the class teacher to foster early reading, writing and communication skills, build confidence and positive relationships, and contribute to a safe, inclusive learning environment throughout the academic year.

Qualifications

• A genuine passion for working with young children and supporting their development.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Experience with Special Educational Needs would be highly beneficial.
• Enhanced DBS on Update Service, or willingness to apply for one.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to learn and develop within an Early Years environment.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting children's welfare.

Responsibilities

• Support children within Reception across all areas of the EYFS curriculum.
• Provide one-to-one and small-group support to children with a range of abilities and needs.
• Support children with Special Educational Needs and additional learning requirements.
• Encourage the development of early reading, writing, communication and language skills.
• Help children develop their confidence, independence and social skills.
• Support children to build positive relationships and interact appropriately with their peers.
• Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging, creative and age-appropriate activities.
• Encourage children to explore, investigate and develop their curiosity through play-based learning.
• Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils.
• Support children's personal, social and emotional development.
• Help create a safe, inclusive, stimulating and nurturing learning environment.
• Work closely with the class teacher and wider school team to support children's individual needs.
• Observe children's progress and provide appropriate feedback to teaching staff.
• Ensure the safety, welfare and wellbeing of all children at all times.
• Follow safeguarding procedures and maintain high standards of professional conduct.
