Job summary

Teaching Personnel in Fleetwood, Lancashire, is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support a Primary School's new EYFS intake. You will work with the class teacher and SEND team to help children settle, access the curriculum, and develop independence.

The role involves one-to-one and small group support, personal care assistance, and helping with speech and language development, social skills, routines, and targeted interventions. Relevant childcare or SEN qualifications are desirable.

Teaching Personnel are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to support a Primary School in Fleetwood with their new EYFS intake.

This rewarding role will involve supporting a small group of children who are starting school in September and require additional help to access the Early Years curriculum. The children are not yet fully school-ready and may present with a range of additional needs, including speech and language delays, social communication difficulties, developmental delays, and personal care requirements.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher and SEND team to provide tailored support that helps children settle into the school environment, develop independence, and engage positively with learning and play activities.

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Providing one-to-one and small group support within the EYFS setting.
  • Assisting children with personal care and toileting routines where required.
  • Supporting the development of communication and language skills.
  • Encouraging positive social interactions and emotional regulation.
  • Helping children establish classroom routines and expectations.
  • Delivering targeted interventions under the guidance of the class teacher and SENDCO.
  • Building strong, nurturing relationships to help children feel safe, secure, and confident in school.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience working with young children, ideally within an EYFS or SEN setting.
  • Understands the challenges faced by children who are not yet school-ready.
  • Has experience supporting speech and language development or communication needs.
  • Is patient, caring, and able to build positive relationships with pupils.
  • Is comfortable supporting personal care and toileting needs.
  • Has a proactive and nurturing approach to supporting children's development.
  • Holds a relevant childcare, education, or SEN qualification (desirable but not essential).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
