Job summary

Milk Education is recruiting EYFS Teaching Assistants for schools across Redcar and Cleveland and surrounding areas, starting September 2026. Roles are long-term and full-time with potential to become permanent, offering a fast-track registration process.

You’ll support learning in the EYFS, helping children develop literacy and communication skills in a nurturing environment.

Qualifications

• Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant or Early Years qualification desirable.
• Experience supporting children in EY/Nursery/Reception/Primary settings.
• Good understanding of EYFS framework and young children’s needs.
• Experience with play-based learning and child-led activities desirable.

Responsibilities

• Support class teacher with engaging EYFS activities across the curriculum.
• Provide targeted support to children across seven areas of learning.
• Support language development and early literacy.
• Encourage confidence, independence and engagement via play-based learning.
• Work with individuals and small groups to support learning.
• Observe progress and give feedback to the teacher.
• Promote positive behaviour in a calm, nurturing classroom.
• Support children with SEND when required.

EYFS Teaching Assistant - Redcar and Cleveland & Surrounding Areas

Milk Education is working with a number of welcoming and supportive Primary Schools across Redcar and Cleveland and the surrounding areas and is looking to recruit caring, enthusiastic and dedicated EYFS Teaching Assistants to join schools from September 2026.

Whether you're an experienced Teaching Assistant, hold a Level 2 or Level 3 qualification, or have recent experience supporting children within an Early Years or Primary School setting, we'd love to hear from you.

We have a range of long-term, full-time opportunities available, with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate.

As an EYFS Teaching Assistant, you'll play a vital role in supporting children's learning and development, helping to create a positive, engaging and nurturing environment where every child can thrive.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the class teacher in delivering engaging and age-appropriate learning activities across the EYFS curriculum.
• Provide targeted support to children across the seven areas of learning and development.
• Support children with their communication, language and early literacy skills.
• Encourage children's confidence, independence and engagement through play-based learning.
• Work with individuals and small groups to support learning and development.
• Observe and monitor children's progress and provide feedback to the class teacher.
• Promote positive behaviour and help maintain a calm, nurturing and inclusive classroom environment.
• Support children with SEND where required.
• Assist with personal care, toileting and other care needs where necessary.
• Support children during transitions, lunchtimes and outdoor learning.
• Build positive relationships with pupils, parents and school staff.

Skills, Qualifications & Experience

• Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant or Early Years qualification is desirable.
• Previous experience working within an Early Years, Nursery, Reception or Primary School setting.
• Experience supporting children's early development, communication and language is desirable.
• A good understanding of the EYFS framework and the needs of young children.
• Experience supporting play-based learning and child-led activities is desirable.
• A caring, patient and nurturing approach.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• A genuine passion for supporting children's learning and development.

This role is paid within the advertised pay scale. Your starting salary will be determined by your qualifications, relevant experience and the requirements of the assignment.
