Job summary

Veolia is seeking an External Engagement Officer to design and deliver campaigns promoting recycling and waste minimisation. The role involves developing engaging social media content, handling press, and leading community engagement activities across Watford and Kings Cross in a hybrid arrangement.

Required are strong communication skills, experience with social media content creation, and the ability to manage complaints and deliver face-to-face outreach.

You will also lead on reactive and proactive press for your area, with the opportunity to identify and develop good news stories throughout the year.You will support your team by communicating with residents to solve issues, including delivering face-to-face community engagement activities to achieve project goals, and responding to resident complaints on social media. This could include identifying target groups and developing appropriate strategies to deliver key messages, delivering community events, and door-knocking target areas.You will have the experience of working in a team to deliver projects and will be confident in managing a varied workload.You will need to be a detail oriented and creative individual who is confident in communicating concisely and clearly.This role will involve working in both Watford and Kings Cross in a hybrid manner. Some evening and weekend work will be required on occasion and a full driving licence and experience of driving in the UK is preferable.The experience you will needEssential:Excellent verbal and written communication skillsUnderstand how to utilise social media campaigns and tailor communication to different audiencesConfident in developing content in multiple formats, and will possess filming and basic video editing skillsHave excellent attention to detail, planning and organisational skills and a proven ability to prioritise workloads and multi-taskExperience of complaint resolution and speaking to the publicDesirable:Knowledge of the recycling sectorExperience working with local authoritiesExperience designing and delivering social media, social advertising and digital campaignsExperience dealing with media proactively and reactivelyFull UK Driving Licence and experience of driving in the UKYou will be able to work unsupervised when necessary but will also be happy collaborating with teammates.
