Export Operator - Birmingham - Permanent Role

Salary: £33,000 per annum

Working hours: Monday to Friday, Days

Silver Arrow is seeking an Export Operator for our client based in Birmingham.

Your Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain relationships to ensure high levels of customer service.
• Manage freight shipments to customer specifications, ensuring on-time delivery with all necessary customs and legal documentation, and keep records of all events and reports.
• Arrange haulage with shipping lines and hauliers.
• Verify and invoice all freight prior to dispatch.
• Prepare pre-alert documents as required.
• Resolve requests and queries efficiently.
• Communicate clearly with overseas agents, customers, and suppliers to ensure freight movement meets customer requirements.
• Utilize customer ERP and SAP systems as needed.
• Provide accurate and timely reports to the department manager.
• Ensure all documentation is correct.
• Take ownership of personal training and development, including training new starters when necessary.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 2 years' experience in freight forwarding, including experience with independent companies.
• Ability to work under pressure while remaining calm and resolving issues efficiently.
• Strong prioritization skills to handle multiple tasks with accuracy and urgency.
• Experience with global shipments and operating procedures.
• Familiarity with haulage methods: sea, road, rail, and air, including ADR and IMDG shipments.
• Excellent client and customer relationship management skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to develop repeat business and new opportunities.
• International experience and ability to work with a global network of agents, suppliers, shipping lines, hauliers, and airlines.
