Job summary

Lori Walsh Recruitment is seeking a logistics professional to manage export and cross-trade bookings from Basildon. You will handle bookings via email/phone, raise files in the system, obtain quotations, and coordinate shipments across sea, air and road.

The role requires experience in freight forwarding, with knowledge of export documentation and compliance. Salary is around £32k, negotiable based on experience, and is based in Basildon.

Qualifications

• Experience in freight forwarding, preferably Ocean/Road exports.

Responsibilities

• Confirm bookings from clients via email or telephone.
• Raise the file in the operational system and make the booking with the shipping line.
• Obtain best quotations and confirm selling rates to clients.
• Coordinate multi-modal export shipments (air, sea, road) from start to finish.
• Liaise with 3PL providers, carriers, customs, and internal departments.
• Produce export paperwork and pre-alerts for agents Worldwide.
• Invoicing and handling related sales/cost queries.

Job description

Our clients is currently looking for a new member of staff to join their team at their Basildon office. The company afreight forwarders who provides Worldwide freight solutions for Air, Road and Sea freight. They have been established for many years and work as a small team covering all aspects of Air, Road and Sea freight both Imports and Exports.

Purpose of the role:

To manage the Export and Cross Trades process for all modes of transport; Air, Sea and Road freight from start to finish within the department.

Duties will include:

• Responsible for confirming bookings from clients via e mail or telephone.
• Raising the file within the operational system and making the booking with the relevant shipping line.
• Obtaining the best quotation and where necessary confirming the selling rate the client. Requesting all paperwork from the shipper and sending to the shipping line.
• Working with the Branch manager and colleagues to maximize the profits for both the Export department and Company as a whole
• Oversee and coordinate multi-modal export shipments, ensuring timely delivery across all transportation modes including sea, air and road.
• Liaise with £PL providers, carriers, customs and internal departments to provide the best possible smooth operations for exports.
• Maintain compliance with relevant regulations and other relevant export standards to ensure all shipments meet legal requirements.
• Liaise with 3PL providers, carriers, customs authorities, and internal departments to facilitate smooth export operations.
• Invoice for Export and Cross Trade shipments
• Producing and sending all paperwork required for export clearance.
• Producing pre alert’s to agents Worldwide.
• Checking Bills of Lading
• Liaise with accounts department with any sales/cost queries.
• Invoicing files within the system and passing purchase invoices relevant to your files.
• Filing operations files.

Hours of work are Monday to Friday 9/5.30pm

Salary £32k negotiable depending on experience

Requirements

To be successful for the role you will need to have experience of working within a freight forwarders ideally dealing with ocean/Road freight export and cross trade shipments. You will have experience of dealing with both Inbound trailer shipments. Training will be provided in any areas of work for instance Road and Air that you do not have the experience in.

You will possess a strong understanding of supply chain processes and logistics operations within

an Export environment and be familiar with relevant regulations related to exports and international shipping standards.
