Job summary

ECU Worldwide (UK) Limited in Basildon offers an International Freight Forwarding Specialist Apprenticeship. You will learn export documentation, customs, transport options and shipment tracking while supporting customers.

The role runs for about 1 year 9 months with two apprentice positions, leading to possible full-time employment on successful completion. Working Monday to Friday, 09:00–17:15, you gain on‑the‑job guidance and complete the apprenticeship programme through SOUTH ESSEX COLLEGE

Qualifications

• GCSE Maths and English (minimum grade 4).
• Attention to detail and organisational skills.
• Good communication and customer care abilities.

Responsibilities

• Respond to customer enquiries by email and telephone with shipment updates.
• Prepare and check export documentation and shipment records.
• Learn freight forwarding procedures, customs requirements and transport arrangements.
• Coordinate with customers, overseas offices and carriers to progress shipments.
• Update internal systems with milestones and customer instructions.
• Assist with booking arrangements and resolve shipment queries.
• Complete coursework for the Apprenticeship Programme.

Introduction

You will develop practical knowledge of international freight forwarding while supporting customers. You will learn about export documentation, customs processes, transport options, shipment tracking and customer communication, while working towards the International Freight Forwarding Specialist Apprenticeship.

What You'll Do

• Responding to customer enquiries by email and telephone, providing updates on export shipments.
• Preparing, checking and processing export documentation, shipment details and relevant records.
• Learning about freight forwarding procedures, customs requirements and international transport arrangements.
• Coordinating with customers, overseas offices, carriers and other service providers to help ensure shipments progress smoothly.
• Updating internal systems with shipment milestones, delivery information and customer instructions.
• Assisting the team with booking arrangements, problem-solving and resolving shipment queries.
• Taking part in planned training and completing coursework for the International Freight Forwarding Specialist Apprenticeship Programme.

Training Outcome

Possible full time employment on successful completion of the apprenticeship.
