Job description

A Vacancy at Derbyshire Community Health Services NHS Foundation Trust.

We are a large and dynamic Speech and Language Therapy service of around 100 staff, working across all service areas in Derbyshire.

This exciting opportunity has arisen in the children's team and we are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced speech and language therapist with specialist skills in working with autism, trauma, and youth justice service.

The role will also provide a clinical service to children and young people with a range of communication difficulties in a variety of settings, including education settings, nurseries, clinics, and clients’ homes.

The role is split into 0.2 sessions for the Youth Justice Service and 0.8 sessions to deliver a community caseload based in Locality 1 in Derby city.

Opportunities to develop knowledge and skills in the area of childhood trauma will be offered as the role progresses.

All our therapists work with children who have a wide range of speech, language, communication, and eating and drinking needs. This post has additional specialist areas of interest in Autism, childhood trauma, and the Youth Justice System. The post holder needs to have postgraduate experience in this area.

The successful candidate will be a HCPC registered Speech and Language Therapist and be mobile between locations. They will be proficient in their abilities to deliver high-quality, evidence-based practice, with a proven ability to provide leadership and support within an SLT service.

You will work alongside a friendly team of SLTs, SLPs, and SLTAs, with line management support from an SLT team leader, as well as having access to clinical supervision and relevant CPD opportunities. You will have a commitment to providing a high standard of patient-focused care and be a strong team player.

Our purpose is to provide community health services to a patient population of over one million people in Derbyshire and Derby, as part of Joined Up Care Derbyshire.

We employ around 4,200 substantive staff, caring for patients in 11 community hospitals and more than 30 health centres, as well as in clinics, GP practices, schools, care homes, and, increasingly, in people’s own homes and via virtual consultations.

Benefits include:

  1. Commitment to flexible working where this is possible
  2. 27 days annual leave/year plus bank holidays, increasing to 29 days after 5 years & 33 days after 10 years’ service
  3. Yearly appraisal and commitment to ongoing training
  4. Generous NHS pension scheme
  5. Good maternity, paternity, and adoption benefits
  6. Health service discounts and online benefits
  7. Incremental pay progression
