An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Band 6 Speech & Language Therapist in communication and dysphagia to join our team based in South Kirklees (Huddersfield District), working within the community stroke team & wider service.
Based in South Kirklees, the Locala Adult Speech and Language Therapy service provides comprehensive care for adults in a variety of community settings. We offer specialist triage, assessment, differential diagnosis, and treatment/discharge recommendations for adults with acquired communication difficulties, eating, drinking, and swallowing difficulties (EDS), and neurogenic voice problems. We utilize a hybrid approach of virtual and face-to-face care.
This role requires a motivated and innovative individual to work within this established service. It is vital that you can work as part of a multidisciplinary team. Experience of working within a community setting and delivering expert care to patients in their homes, care homes, or clinics is essential.
You should be confident in managing a caseload independently, assessing and treating patients with neurological communication and swallowing difficulties, including MND, Parkinson’s, stroke, MS, dementia, etc. As a Specialist SLT, you will also contribute to training, clinical supervision, and maintaining competencies of colleagues, supported by Clinical Leads and the Team Leader. Excellent communication, IT skills, and flexibility are essential.
