Job summary

Building Careers UK Ltd is seeking an experienced M&E Estimator to join its pre-construction team in the North West. You will prepare accurate estimates for mechanical and electrical packages across commercial fit-out and refurbishment projects, working from enquiry through tender submission and handover.

You will collaborate with estimating, design and project teams, reviewing drawings, specifications and scope, and negotiating with subcontractors to secure competitive quotations.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as an M&E Estimator in construction or building services.
• Experience pricing commercial fit-out, office refurbishment or similar projects.
• Good knowledge of mechanical and electrical building services.
• Ability to interpret M&E drawings and specifications.
• Strong commercial awareness and understanding of project risk.
• Excellent attention to detail and numerical ability.
• Strong negotiation and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate and competitive M&E estimates for commercial fit-out and refurbishment projects.
• Review tender drawings, specifications, schedules and scope of works.
• Carry out detailed measurements and quantity take-offs.
• Price mechanical and electrical packages including labour, materials, plant and subcontract elements.
• Prepare detailed cost plans, estimates and tender submissions.
• Issue enquiries to M&E subcontractors and suppliers.
• Obtain, analyse and negotiate competitive quotations.
• Review subcontractor and supplier returns for accuracy, scope and compliance.
• Identify omissions, risks, exclusions and commercial opportunities within tender documentation.
• Work with design team to identify alternative solutions and value engineering opportunities.
• Liaise with clients, consultants, suppliers and subcontractors throughout the tender process.
• Attend pre-tender meetings, site visits and client meetings where required.
• Maintain accurate estimating records and pricing information.
• Assist with developing project budgets and ensuring commercial targets are achieved.
• Provide detailed handovers to the delivery team on successful projects.
• Maintain strong relationships with the supply chain and build market knowledge.
• Support the wider estimating and commercial team where required.
