Job summary

Axcis Education Recruitment is seeking an Experienced Autism Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition in a specialist educational setting in Blandford Forum. You will work 1:1 and in small groups, helping pupils engage with lessons and develop confidence in a calm, nurturing environment.

The role is full-time, Monday to Friday, with competitive daily pay between £100.00 and £110.00 and access to ongoing CPD and SEND training through Axcis. Start date ASAP, DBS required.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting children or young people with Autism (ASC).
  • Experience in specialist SEND settings or mainstream schools with additional needs.
  • Patient, resilient and compassionate approach.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and confident in challenging situations.

Responsibilities

  • Support pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) throughout the school day.
  • Deliver one-to-one and small group support tailored to learning needs.
  • Help pupils engage with lessons and develop classroom confidence.
  • Use autism-friendly approaches to support communication and independence.
  • Implement positive behaviour support strategies to encourage outcomes.
  • Adapt activities with teaching staff to meet individual needs.
  • Work with teachers, therapists and SEND team to ensure consistent support.
  • Monitor pupil progress and contribute to individual support plans.
  • Promote a safe, calm and inclusive learning environment.

Experienced Autism Teaching Assistant

Location: Blandford Forum, Dorset

Pay: £100.00-£110.00 per day

Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant with a strong background supporting children and young people with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)?

Axcis Education is recruiting an experienced Autism Teaching Assistant to join a specialist educational setting in Blandford Forum. This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a dedicated team that supports pupils with autism to achieve their full potential in a structured, positive and nurturing learning environment.

This role is ideal for a confident Teaching Assistant who understands the importance of consistency, communication and building trusting relationships with pupils who have complex learning needs.

The Role:
  • Support pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) throughout the school day
  • Deliver personalised one-to-one and small group support tailored to individual learning needs
  • Help pupils engage with lessons and develop confidence within the classroom
  • Use autism-friendly approaches to support communication, emotional regulation and independence
  • Implement positive behaviour support strategies to encourage successful outcomes
  • Adapt learning activities alongside teaching staff to meet individual needs
  • Work closely with teachers, therapists and the wider SEND team to ensure consistent support
  • Monitor pupil progress and contribute to individual support plans
  • Promote a safe, calm and inclusive learning environment where every pupil can succeed
About You:
  • Previous experience supporting children or young people with Autism (ASC)
  • Experience working within a specialist school, SEND provision or mainstream school supporting pupils with additional needs
  • A patient, resilient and compassionate approach
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • The ability to remain calm and confident in challenging situations
  • A genuine passion for helping young people achieve their goals
Desirable Experience
  • Experience supporting pupils with communication difficulties, sensory needs or challenging behaviour
  • Knowledge of Autism-specific strategies, including visual supports, structured routines and positive behaviour approaches
  • Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant, SEN Teaching Assistant, SEND Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant or Autism Support Worker
