Job Description
As an Executive Support Officer at the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea Council (RBKC), you’ll be the steady hand behind the scenes, helping senior leaders stay organised and focused on delivering for our residents.
Working Style
You’ll be based in the Borough for a minimum of three days a week, playing a key role in serving the local community. Whether you’re working on the frontline or behind the scenes, you’ll be part of a dedicated team making a real difference to residents’ lives.
What You’ll Be Doing
As an Executive Support Officer, you’ll provide reliable, day-to-day support to up to two senior leaders in the Housing and Social Investment Directorate. You’ll take care of the details – managing diaries and inboxes, arranging meetings, preparing papers and following up on actions – so that they’re well-organised and ready for whatever comes their way.
This is a role where your organisational and communication skills will really shine. You’ll help coordinate meetings, prepare agendas, screen calls, manage correspondence and keep track of urgent requests. You’ll also support wider team activity – from planning staff events and processing invoices, to helping onboard new starters and making sure queries from residents or Members are handled on time and to a high standard.
You’ll work closely with people across the council, as well as with residents and partners, so it’s important you’re confident working with others and representing the team professionally. Discretion and attention to detail are key, as you’ll often be handling sensitive information.
In short, your work will make a real difference to how the directorate runs – and help us deliver a better service to the community.

What You’ll Bring
You’ll bring proven experience in a wide range of administrative responsibilities – from diary management and event coordination to financial admin and minute taking. You’ll be confident juggling multiple priorities, solving problems on the go and anticipating the needs of those you support.
You’re someone who communicates clearly and professionally at all levels, with the emotional intelligence to work with discretion and build strong relationships. You’ll be tech-savvy and fully proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint and Teams – and comfortable guiding others in their use too.
Ideally, you’ll have worked in an executive or business support role before, especially in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment. But if you have transferable skills and the right mindset, we welcome your application.
Why join us
You’ll be part of a friendly and supportive team, with access to opportunities to learn from across the wider directorate.
At RBKC, our work is guided by a clear purpose: to serve, support and empower our community. We’re building a workplace culture where people feel valued, inspired and encouraged to think differently.
