Job summary

Marine & Lawn Rusacks in St Andrews is seeking an experienced Executive Housekeeper to lead the housekeeping team and uphold five-star standards across guest rooms and public areas.

You will manage rosters, recruit and develop staff, monitor quality checks, and collaborate with Front Office and Maintenance to ensure perfect room readiness and guest satisfaction.

This role demands hands-on leadership, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety, cost control and an exceptional guest experience.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a senior Housekeeping role, ideally within a luxury, four-star or five-star hotel environment.
• Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate, coach and inspire a team.
• Genuine passion for delivering exceptional cleanliness, presentation and guest service standards.
• Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a busy hotel environment.
• Experience managing departmental budgets, payroll, stock control and operational efficiency.
• Proactive, solutions-focused approach and the confidence to take ownership of departmental performance.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive working relationships across departments.
• Sound understanding of health and safety requirements and housekeeping best practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead, motivate and develop the Housekeeping team to foster a positive, prideful culture.
• Oversee daily operations to maintain five-star standards in guest rooms, bathrooms and public spaces.
• Conduct regular room inspections and quality checks to uphold brand standards.
• Manage rotas, staffing levels, payroll and productivity in line with budget expectations.
• Recruit, onboard, train and develop team members and support career progression.
• Control supplies, linen, guest amenities and stock to balance cost with quality.
• Collaborate with Front Office, Maintenance and other departments to ensure seamless room readiness.
• Identify maintenance concerns and ensure timely repairs are reported and followed up.
• Ensure health and safety, COSHH and company policies are followed.
• Handle guest feedback professionally and drive service recovery.
• Continuously review procedures to improve efficiency and guest experience.
