Job summary

GTR is seeking an accomplished Chief Engineer and Technical Director/Officer to lead engineering, fleet, asset management, maintenance, renewals and infrastructure across our integrated railway.

Reporting to the Managing Director and as a member of the Executive Leadership Team, you will shape safety, reliability and performance by coordinating across GTR and Network Rail to deliver a safer, more efficient railway for customers.

Qualifications

• Chartered Engineer status or equivalent professional experience.
• Experience leading large engineering, fleet, maintenance, renewals, or infrastructure organisations.
• Strong knowledge of asset management, engineering assurance, maintenance delivery, infrastructure performance.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary teams through organisational and cultural change in a safety-critical, regulated environment.

Responsibilities

• Set and lead the integrated engineering, maintenance, renewals and enhancements strategy across track and train.
• Provide executive leadership for Fleet Engineering, Asset Management, and Infrastructure.
• Lead day-to-day maintenance and overhaul activity across railway infrastructure and fleet.
• Coordinate medium and long-term asset management planning and renewals strategies.
• Drive safety, performance, and environmental targets and ensure regulatory compliance.
