Job summary

Convene Rathbone in London is seeking an Executive Chef to lead culinary launch, strategy and daily kitchen operations for its high-profile Meetings & Events destination opening Spring 2027. You will report to the General Manager and oversee all culinary offerings across lounges and spaces.

The role requires agility for bespoke client requests, seasonal menu development, and managing department finances while building a high-performing kitchen culture with Head of Culinary collaboration.

Qualifications

  • Degree or diploma in Culinary Arts (or equivalent NVQ/City & Guilds qualifications), or recognised professional cookery qualification backed by hands-on culinary leadership.
  • Experience: 5–8+ years of progressive culinary and kitchen management in high-volume, premier venues, leading teams up to 20+ staff.
  • Specialised knowledge: UK Food Safety/HACCP, inventory systems, P&L targets, and exposure to high-profile private events.

Responsibilities

  • Formulate culinary direction, menu design, and identity aligned with the brand and events.
  • Oversee end-to-end food production for all outlets and multi‑million‑pound private events.
  • Own food and labour costs with data-driven targets and weekly/monthly stock audits.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing culinary team and ensure shift briefings and service readiness.
  • Lead menu development, tastings, and opening-day preparations within 90 days.
