Job summary

Guernsey Electricity Limited in Guernsey seeks an Excavation Supervisor (Ganger) to lead the excavation and reinstatement works team for underground cable laying and duct work. You will oversee on-site safety, daily targets, and ensure timely work delivery across varied environments.

The role requires managing small teams, coordinating with other sections, and maintaining tools, timesheets, and material logistics, with a focus on safety and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Guernsey Driving Licence is required.
• Minimum of 5 years demonstrable experience in a similar role.
• Ideally Street Works qualification.
• Plant and machinery training and experience.
• First line management experience with small teams.
• Passport to Safety and strong health & safety awareness.
• Ability to identify risks and solve problems on site.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Basic IT skills and ability to manage timesheets.

Responsibilities

• Supervision and leadership of the excavation and reinstatement team in underground cable laying and duct work.
• Management of on-site Health & Safety matters.
• Run day-to-day operations, addressing issues to meet daily delivery targets.
• Deal impartially with minor personnel problems and liaise with other sections.
• Work across varied environments including roads, in all weather, with heavy equipment.
• Ensure IT requirements such as timesheets and service orders are completed.
• Carry out maintenance of tools and minor plant; operate excavation machinery.
