Job summary

Cornwallis Academy seeks a highly motivated, organised Examinations Officer to manage examinations across a thriving secondary school and Sixth Form. You will ensure accurate, compliant administration for public and internal assessments.

Experience in a school examination environment is advantageous, with full training provided for strong administrative and communication skills. 37 hours a week, term-time plus 3 weeks.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the administration, organisation, and delivery of all external examinations in line with JCQ and awarding body regulations.
  • Coordinate internal examinations, mock examinations, and assessment periods throughout the year.
  • Manage examination entries, amendments, withdrawals, and results using the school's MIS and portals.
  • Produce and distribute examination timetables, seating plans, candidate information, and docs.
  • Recruit, train, deploy, and support invigilators to ensure exams run smoothly and legally.
  • Maintain accurate examination records and secure handling of confidential materials.
  • Liaise with senior leaders, staff, SEND teams, students, and parents about arrangements and access.
  • Support students and staff during results days, including post-results services.
  • Keep up to date with changes to examination regulations and best practice.

CornwallisAcademy is seeking to appoint a highly motivated, exceptionally organised, andproactive Examinations Officer to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a vital role in the smooth running ofexaminations across our thriving secondary school and Sixth Form provision.

Thesuccessful candidate will be responsible for the efficient, accurate, andsecure administration of all public and internal examinations, ensuring fullcompliance with awarding body and Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ)regulations. The role requires excellent organisational skills, strongattention to detail, and the ability to manage competing priorities within a fast-paced environment.

Previousexperience working within a school examinations environment would beadvantageous; however, full training will be provided for a candidate who candemonstrate excellent administrative, organisational, and communication skills.

Working Hours

37hours per week. Monday–Thursday: 08:00–16:00 and Friday: 08:00–15:30

TermTime plus 3 weeks (41 weeks per year)

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadthe administration, organisation, and delivery of all external examinations forGCSE, vocational, and Sixth Form qualifications in accordance with JCQ andawarding body regulations.
  • Coordinatethe administration and organisation of internal examinations, mockexaminations, and assessment periods throughout the academic year.
  • Manageexamination entries, amendments, withdrawals, and results processes using theschool’s Management Information System and awarding body portals.
  • Produceand distribute examination timetables, seating plans, candidate information,and examination documentation.
  • Recruit,train, deploy, and support invigilators to ensure examinations are conductedeffectively and in line with regulatory requirements.
  • Maintainaccurate examination records and ensure the secure handling and storage ofconfidential examination materials.
  • Liaiseeffectively with senior leaders, teaching staff, SEND teams, students,parents/carers, and awarding organisations regarding examination arrangementsand access arrangements.
  • Supportstudents and staff during results days, including post-results services such asreviews of marking and access to scripts.
  • Keepup to date with changes to examination regulations, procedures, and bestpractice to ensure ongoing compliance and continuous improvement.

  • Anunderstanding of access arrangements and inclusive examination practice(desirable).
