Job description

Event Operations Executive – International Sports Events
London | 4 days per week in the office

I'm working with an exciting international sports organisation looking to hire an Event Operations Executive to join its growing events team.

This is a brilliant opportunity for someone with around 2–4 years' solid events experience who has built a good grounding in live event delivery and is now ready to step up, take more ownership and start leading projects of their own.

This isn't an entry-level events role. You don't need to know everything, but you do need to understand how events actually work – the practicalities, logistics and details that turn an idea into something that can be delivered successfully onsite.

You'll report into the Senior Event Manager and work across a busy international calendar, supporting major sporting events as well as taking ownership of smaller standalone events and special projects.

The role

You'll be involved across the full event lifecycle – from initial planning and supplier sourcing through to build, live delivery and de-rig.

We're looking for someone who thinks beyond simply booking a supplier. If you're sourcing temporary infrastructure, for example, you'll naturally be considering access, installation, ground conditions, safety, infrastructure requirements and de-rig as part of the process.

You'll also have the opportunity to lead smaller events and special projects from start to finish. These could still be substantial projects – around 200 guests and budgets of up to £250k – where you'll take responsibility for the planning, suppliers, budget and onsite delivery, with support from the wider team.

Day to day, you'll be:
  • Supporting the planning and delivery of international sporting events, from venue preparation and build through to live operations and de-rig
  • Taking ownership of specific operational workstreams, including areas such as transport, catering and event suppliers
  • Leading selected standalone events, demonstration events and promotional projects
  • Managing suppliers from briefing and quoting through to appointment and onsite delivery
  • Creating and maintaining event plans, schedules, run sheets, budgets and action trackers
  • Working across internal teams including sporting, hospitality, marketing, partnerships, broadcast and travel
  • Managing allocated project budgets and keeping a close eye on costs
  • Identifying potential operational issues early and finding practical solutions
  • Supporting onsite delivery and staying calm when plans inevitably change.
What we're looking for

You’ll ideally have 2–4 years' experience within event operations, event production, venue operations or another hands‑on live events environment.

More importantly, you’ll be practical, switched on and ready for more responsibility.

You’ll have experience working with suppliers and venues, understand temporary event infrastructure and production requirements, and be able to take a broad brief and work out what actually needs to happen to deliver it.

You don't need to be the finished article – there will be plenty of support from an experienced Senior Event Manager – but you should be at the point where you're ready to own projects, make decisions and step towards an Event Manager-level role.

You’ll also need to be happy travelling internationally, typically for around seven days per event, and working longer hours and weekends during live event periods.

For someone looking to build a career delivering large-scale international sporting events, this is a fantastic opportunity to get serious hands‑on experience and quickly take on more responsibility.
