Job summary

Thistle Seafoods Ltd is seeking a Maintenance Engineer to carry out planned and reactive maintenance on factory machinery, ensuring optimal performance and minimal downtime. You will work under the guidance of the Engineering Team Leaders and Chief Engineer to support continuous production operations.

The role requires a strong electrical or mechanical maintenance background, knowledge of food processing equipment, and fluency in English.

Qualifications

• Formal engineering qualification at City and Guilds level, ONC/HNC or equivalent.
• Strong electrical or mechanical maintenance background with fault-finding skills.
• Knowledge of food processing equipment and modern processing plant machinery is advantageous.
• Ability to read electrical diagrams and work with motors, inverters and PLCs is desirable.
• Fluency in English (written, verbal) and high attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned and preventative maintenance on machinery to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
• Provide full engineering support under the Engineering Team Leaders and Chief Engineer.
• Resolve machine breakdowns to maximise line efficiency of production processes.
• Assist in maintaining engineering stores; identify parts, raise requisitions, and manage stock replenishment while following stores procedures.
• Adhere to all policies on hygiene, safety and PPE; promote brand integrity and CSR.
