Job summary

Thistle Seafoods Ltd in Scotland is seeking a skilled Maintenance Engineer to ensure reliable operation of our processing lines. You will lead planned and preventative maintenance and rapidly resolve machine breakdowns to keep production running smoothly.

Candidates should have a formal engineering qualification (City and Guilds, ONC/HNC or equivalent) and strong fault-finding skills. Experience with food processing equipment and three-phase electrical installs is desirable.

Qualifications

• Formal engineering qualification to City and Guilds level, ONC/HNC or equivalent.
• Strong maintenance background with fault-finding skills.
• Knowledge of modern processing plant machinery preferred.
• Experience with food processing equipment desirable.
• Ability to read electrical schematics; single and 3-phase installations.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement preventative maintenance on production lines.
• Resolve machine breakdowns to maximise line efficiency.
• Assist in engineering projects to improve efficiencies.
• Participate in site improvement and reliability initiatives.
• Ensure practices meet Health, Food Safety and hygiene standards.

Key Duties/Responsibilities:

• Responsibility for planned and preventative maintenance and development of PPM's where possible.
• Resolve machine breakdowns to ensure maximum line efficiency of the production process.
• Assist in engineering projects to improve efficiencies.
• Participating in department and site improvement and reliability initiatives.
• Responsibility for ensuring current practices meet Health and Safety and Food Safety standards, and where possible that they exceed requirements.

Desirable Knowledge, Skills and Experience

• Formal engineering qualification to at least City and Guilds level, ONC/HNC level or equivalent or extensive experience working as an engineer in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong maintenance background with well-developed analytical fault-finding skills.
• Knowledge and experience of the maintenance of modern processing plant machinery would be preferred.
• Previous experience of food processing equipment is desirable but not essential.
• The ability to use electrical test equipment, read schematic diagrams with experience in single and 3 phase installations including motors, inverters, and PLC's (desirable but not essential) (electrical, multi-dis only).
