Job summary

St Albans School is seeking a reliable Late Porter (afternoons and evenings) to join the Estates team. The role covers portering, security and caretaking duties, with 3pm to midnight, Monday to Friday, in a busy independent school environment.

The postholder will be responsible for the security of buildings and grounds, including locks, alarms and CCTV, and will support pupils, staff and visitors while maintaining high standards of presentation and service.

Qualifications

• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Good literacy and numeracy.
• Basic IT skills.

Responsibilities

• Locking/unlocking facilities and monitoring alarm systems and CCTV.
• Control access to the site and perform regular patrols.
• Support safe departure of pupils and liaise with transport providers.
• Receive and distribute deliveries and assist with events and functions.
• Maintain cleanliness and presentation of key areas and assist contractors, visitors, staff and pupils as required.
• Previous experience in caretaking/portering/security is advantageous but not essential.
