Job summary

Toot Hill School is seeking a conscientious Cleaner to join our facilities team. The role involves daily cleaning in classrooms, hallways, toilets and offices, including sweeping, mopping, dusting and waste disposal.

You will work as part of a team, following COSHH rules and safeguarding policies while maintaining high standards of cleanliness. The post is permanent, part time, term time plus two weeks (41 weeks per year), 15 hours per week (3 hours daily, Monday to Friday).

Qualifications

• Previous cleaning experience preferred.
• Ability to work as part of a team.
• Able to follow safety regulations including COSHH.

Responsibilities

• Work as part of a team undertaking general cleaning duties in classrooms, hallways, toilets, offices and common areas.
• Sweep, mop, dust and vacuum floors and sanitise toilets, sinks and high-touch surfaces.
• Manage waste including emptying bins and proper disposal of waste.
• Report maintenance or safety issues to ensure timely repairs and health and safety compliance.
• Maintain cleaning tools and equipment and report malfunctions.
• Follow safe working practices and COSHH regulations; safeguard policy compliance.

Salary: Scale 1 Point 3 (£9,373 actual per year, which is £13.28 per hour)

Contract: Permanent, part time, term time + 2 weeks (41 weeks per year)

Working Pattern: 15 hours per week, 3 hours per day Monday - Friday (hours to be agreed at interview)

Your main responsibilities within this role will be:

• To work as part of a team, in a busy environment, undertaking general cleaning duties, including daily cleaning tasks in classrooms, hallways, toilets, offices and common areas.
• Duties will include sweeping, mopping, dusting and vacuuming floors as well as cleaning and sanitising toilets, sinks and other high-touch surfaces to prevent the spread of germs.
• Waste management including emptying waste bins, collecting waste and ensuring proper disposal of potentially contaminated materials.
• Reporting any maintenance or safety issues to the appropriate personnel to ensure timely repairs and compliance with health and safety regulations.
• Maintaining cleaning tools and equipment, ensuring they are in good working condition and reporting any malfunctions.
• Following correct working practices in use of equipment and materials and adopting safe working practices to safeguard the safety of others as well as oneself, including COSHH regulations.
• All staff will ensure the safeguarding of young people by the implementation of Child Protection and other safeguarding policies.
