Job summary

First Bus Basildon Depot is seeking an NVQ/SVQ Level 3 (or City & Guilds) qualified PSV/HGV Mechanic to join the busy engineering team. Basildon depot is fully electrified with state-of-the-art vehicles and charging facilities, and engineers will upskill in electric vehicle maintenance.

You will diagnose faults, perform mechanical repairs, service vehicles, handle on-road breakdowns, and ensure accurate documentation in line with health and safety standards.

Qualifications

• NVQ/SVQ Level 3 or City & Guilds equivalent in vehicle maintenance & repair.
• HGV or PSV experience preferred.
• UK driving licence required.
• Attention to detail and passion for mechanics.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose faults and carry out mechanical repairs.
• Perform scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance.
• Respond to on-road breakdowns and recoveries.
• Road test vehicles where required and ensure documentation is accurate and compliant with regs and health & safety standards.
