Job summary

Hubber is seeking a technically adept Site & Engineering Lead to own the technical side of every EV charging site, from heads of terms to approved tender packages. You will run surveys and the technical due diligence, manage civil and electrical engineers, secure grid, highways and drainage consents, and negotiate the necessary legal agreements behind them.

You will verify designs, forecast site costs, and keep projects on budget.

Qualifications

• 5–7 years in a technical role on fast-moving commercial projects (EV charging, forecourts, telecoms, utilities or similar).
• Proven experience managing civil and electrical design, assessing abnormals and handling S278/S104 on short programmes.
• Planning expertise to read site constraints and discharge technical conditions on commercial schemes.
• Strong preference for EV charging/HV works; DNO/IDNO offers; CDM knowledge or relevant memberships are a plus; full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Own technical due diligence from heads of terms: set the survey strategy, then procure and interpret topographic, PAS 128 utility, ground investigation, Phase 1 and 2 environmental, arboricultural and drainage surveys.
• Produce the technical constraints report and abnormal cost assessment for every site ahead of site committee.
• Appoint and manage civil, structural and electrical engineers, and technically approve their designs before tender.
• Lead DNO and IDNO applications, connection offers and HV design approval, and negotiate the legal documents behind them: wayleaves, easements, substation leases and adoption agreements.
• Secure the highways and drainage agreements and consents each site needs, including S278, S104 and S50, and manage them through to adoption.
• Advise on the planning route, discharge the technical planning conditions and secure Building Regulations approval.
• Run the technical programme across all live sites, report weekly to the founders, and answer engineering queries through construction to handover.
