Job summary

Nicholas Associates is seeking an experienced Estimator or Senior Estimator to join a long-serving groundworks contractor.

You will drive pricing and tendering for large-scale groundworks packages, collaborating with clients, engineers, and project managers to create accurate, competitive bids for projects ranging from £5m to £20m+.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as an Estimator or Senior Estimator in commercial groundworks, civil engineering or infrastructure.
• Strong numeracy and commercial awareness with ability to analyse drawings and specs.
• Confident communicator capable of leading tender presentations and negotiations.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and lead detailed cost estimates for groundworks and civil projects.
• Analyze drawings, specs and documentation to prepare tenders.
• Work with commercial, technical and operational teams and attend tender meetings.
• Identify risk and opportunity in tender submissions.

Are you an experienced estimator looking to take the next step in your career? Nicholas Associates are working with reputable, long-serving groundworks contractor who are looking for an Estimator or Senior Estimator to strengthen the commercial team and help driving success across large-scale developments.

The Role

You will play a pivotal role in the pre-construction process, leading the pricing and tendering for commercial groundwork packages ranging from £5m to £20m+. You will collaborate with clients, engineers, and project managers to develop accurate and competitive bids.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and lead detailed cost estimates for groundworks and civil engineering projects
• Analyze drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare comprehensive tenders
• Work closely with the commercial, technical, and operational teams
• Attend pre- and post-tender meetings with clients and internal stakeholders
• Identify risk and opportunity in tender submissions

About You

• Proven experience as an Estimator or Senior Estimator in commercial groundworks, civil engineering or infrastructure
• Strong technical understanding of groundworks, drainage, foundations, roads, and external works
• Excellent numeracy, attention to detail, and commercial awareness
• Proficient with estimating software and Microsoft Excel
• Confident communicator, capable of leading tender presentations and negotiations
