Job summary

Fisher Civils Ltd in Hampshire is seeking a Senior Estimator to lead cost estimation for major civil engineering tenders. You will prepare detailed cost plans, assess drawings and specifications, and drive competitive bids.

The role requires strong knowledge of groundworks and infrastructure, experience with tendering software and Excel, and the ability to manage multiple tenders to deadlines. You will work with clients and supply chain partners, contributing to value engineering and hand over

Qualifications

• Proven experience as Estimator/Senior Estimator in civil engineering.
• Strong knowledge of groundworks, infrastructure and/or civil engineering.
• Experience pricing projects £1m–£20m+.
• Excellent understanding of construction costs, labour, plant, materials and subcontract packages.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail.
• Strong negotiation and communication skills.
• Independent work ethic with ownership of estimating function.
• Experience with estimating software and Excel.
• Understanding of UK contracts and procurement processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Producing competitive and commercially robust tenders.


• Obtaining and analysing quotations from subcontractors and suppliers.

• Liaising with clients, consultants, subcontractors and suppliers.

Candidate Requirements

The successful candidate will have a strong background within civil engineering, groundworks, infrastructure or related sectors, with the ability to manage estimates from initial enquiry through to final submission.

• Proven experience as an Estimator/Senior Estimator within civil engineering.


• Strong knowledge of groundworks, infrastructure and/or general civil engineering.


• Experience pricing projects ranging from approximately £1m £20m+.


• Excellent understanding of construction costs, labour, plant, materials and subcontract packages.


• Strong ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.


• Excellent commercial awareness and attention to detail.


• Strong negotiation and communication skills.


• The ability to work independently and take ownership of the estimating function.


• Experience using estimating/tendering software and Microsoft Excel.


• A strong understanding of UK construction contracts and procurement processes.
